what
As in, "what do you blog about?"
books
I like to read. You can keep up with my current reading on Goodreads. And you can see of my recommendations and book wishlist on Amazon. I'm a student at Fuller Seminary and therefore much of my current reading is directed by my school work. My program focuses on Christian leadership in a globalized culture. I'm interested in how these kinds of leaders participate in God's mission in those cultures and subcultures. But I was reading these kinds of books before I was in seminary. So, while a bulk of my reading is around those subjects, I also enjoy fiction and am currently enjoying books in the steampunk, zombie and vampire genres.
music
I am a music lover and a musician. In this area, I mostly write about music I've been listening to recently. You can see what I've been listening to for yourself on my Last.fm profile. Since I am a responsible father of three, I don't go to as many shows as I used to. But from time to time, I'll let you know about a show I went to and I'll frequently tweet about random music news that interests me. Currently, I am not playing music but I've played in several bands over the years. Few of which you would've heard of but most of them were in and around the punk genre.
art
I love art. And I have a fascination with street art, specifically. My wife, Brooke, and I are both artists (as long as you define "artist" as someone who has sold art they've made). Our artwork is frequently for sale at our Etsy page. Here, I'll post local street art I find, info on our artwork and tweet finds on the web concerning interesting art around the globe.
family
Family is one of the most cherished aspects of my life. I am married to my best friend and high school sweetheart. Together, we have three amazing children Paige, Matt and Sam. I'm very proud of my kids and my wife. So, I don't miss the opportunity to brag on them, sharing the creativity of my daughter, the wit of my oldest son and adorable smirk of youngest.
faith
I am a Christian. I'm an open-minded person that is aware of the problems the Church faces and the pain we've caused throughout our history. But I still think Jesus is/was on to something and am quite confident in claiming him as my King. How I look at the world (society, culture, politics) and how I live my life passes first through the lens of Scripture with a view of Jesus as the center to its message. The Church is where we figure out how to be followers of the Jesus best. So, I frequently write about church life. People of faith tend to use a lot of "insider" terms. Since my life has been lived around many who are not Christians, I do my best to unpack those terms as best I can. If you find that something doesn't make sense, let me know. This is one thing I'd like to make sure is communicated clearly.
